Coats, Coats & More Coats!!!!

And the total count of coats is................(that's a drum roll!) 276 coats, 46 hats, 7 scarves, and 60 pairs of gloves! In my mind I knew we would get 50 and was hoping for 100! Isn't our God amazing???? Thank you all for donating. We are not only going to share with the Children's Hospital at Covenant but also Tent City in Lubbock, several individual families, Lubbock Dream Center and Golden Plains Care Center in Post.

A huge thank you to Caprock Discount Pharmacy, Porter Hardware, First Baptist Church Christian School, Post Tire & Lube and Garza County Animal Hospital for graciously being drop off locations. You made us SMILE!

October's SMILE!

October's SMILE is here! Since it's getting cooler (Thank you Lord!) we have been asked to help Child Life at Covenant Children's Hospital with a coat drive (we'll accept hats, scarves & gloves too). They don't have to be new but they do need to be in good shape. All sizes are needed because they serve children newborn through 18 years old. Let's help them make sure no sick child leaves the hospital without a coat. So go clean out those closets and lets share some WARM SMILES!! I'll even come pick them up! You can donate for new coats by clicking "How Can I Smile?"...just put coat drive in the notes section.

August SMILE!

We had another SMILE planned for August but God had something else planned!!! AND not only have you shared a SMILE with us, but with the overwhelming number of you donating blood and platelets in Brynne's name we shared a SMILE with four other children on our floor in one day. Keep it up donors...there are precious children and who need your donations every day.

Not only was there one drive but there were TWO in Post as well as one in Midland and a massive amount of people who went to United Blood Services in Lubbock to donate. I know I keep saying this but there are NO words to express how humbled, joyful, thankful and blessed we are.

Benefit Fund for the Walls Family

A fund has been set up at Wells Fargo in Post to assist the Walls Family. You can also donate online through Brynne's Smiles, just click on the "How Can I Smile?" link above. Please make sure to note the donation is to go to the Walls Family. Please continue to lift them up in prayer.

July's SMILE!

JULY'S SMILE! We're still building hospital survival kits and we still need personal care products. This will be an ongoing SMILE but we hope to start delivering the kits in July!!

Items needed are travel size:
shampoo
conditioner
deodarant
toothpaste
body wash
q-tips
contact solution, etc.

Our goal for this first round is 50 kits. To big of a goal?...have you met my God? Please let me know if you are interested in contributing items or money. I will also let you know when we will be building the kits as we will need some volunteers then too!

We are also collecting game pieces for the United Supermarkets game. Any winnings will go to Brynne's Smiles. If you are not currently playing the game and shop at United please send the game pieces our way.

June's SMILE!

JUNE'S SMILE IS HERE! We're building hospital survival kits...the 1st item needed is personal care products. This will be an ongoing SMILE but we hope to start delivering the kits in July!!

A big CHEESY SMILE!!

As I type this, an overwhelming sense of purpose floods my soul. I absolutely LOVE what God has already allowed us to do through Brynne's Smiles and cannot wait to see what the future holds.

Today, at noon Brynne's Smiles shared a big cheesy SMILE with some nurses from Accolade Home Health for the Angel Tree camp. In less than 7 days, YOU donated

• 61 pillows and pillow cases
• 30 sleeping bags
• over 30 bottles of fingernail polish and hair products for the girls
• 25+ flashlights and
• multiple other items such as floaties, toys, etc. 

They were overwhelmed at the response.  The nurses from Accolade will deliver the items to the camp next week. There will be some very happy children!!!

A SMILES Request from Nurses at Accolade Home Health!

There will be an Angel Tree Camp near Palo Duro Canyon in June. Many of these kids will come to camp with nothing but the shirt on their back – they don’t have beds and bedding at home.

An unexpected Smile!

There's a lot of S.M.I.L.E.S. going on in Post, Texas these days but a couple of weeks ago, there weren't many actual smiles on faces but there was a lot of smoke in the air. As many of you know Garza County, as well as lot of other areas in West Texas were up in flames...literally. Because of the lack of rain, our land is so dry a tiny spark can end up burning thousands of acres. In Post, our firefighters battled those flames for days and as a result their equipment was basically worn out.

So why am I saying there are a lot of S.M.I.L.E.S. going on now?

If you don't live in Post, you're missing out. Post, Texas is an amazing place to live. Our community is the most supportive place I know. EVERYONE, and I do mean EVERYONE, is pitching in to raise money for the Post Volunteer Fire Department to fix, replace and buy new equipment. There are so many different things that have been done, even the elementary school classes are having a competition to see how much money they can raise selling bracelets, bake sales, raffles, and today a car wash. And this is where the unexpected part comes in...Craig went to get our car washed by the 4th graders of Post Elementary. While they were washing it, he called with a great idea...how about we share a S.M.I.L.E. with them as they are sharing a S.M.I.L.E. with our fire department. I know they're not actually calling them S.M.I.L.E.S. but that's what they're doing "sharing more in life's everyday struggles" and making a lot of firemen really smile!!! I was so excited to do something for these awesome kids and teachers to show them how we can all support each other.

So pizza & drinks it was...not really a big thing but I hope it was enough to show these kids what they where doing was being noticed and hopefully they'll keep giving...like 1 Peter 4:10 says "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. "

Koda & Brynne even got to step in and help a little which they enjoyed as well!

With the recent number of wildfires around the Post & Garza County area, the Post Volunteer Fire Department has not only exhausted it's members but it's trucks and equipment. To help with restore the trucks and replace any equipment or other needs of the Post Volunteer Fire Department, an account has been setup at Wells Fargo. Step by Step...then RUN!

So the process of creating Brynne's Smiles hasn't necessarily been long or difficult at all, but I look back over the last two years and am fulfilled by seeing how each twist and turn in our journey has lead us to where we are today. I know that being able to see God's purpose isn't always easy or clear and I'm not saying I know or understand every detail of why God chose us for this journey. BUT, what I am sure of is that this is what we are supposed to do and every thing we've dealt with, every person God has put in our path, every prayer that has been prayed has brought us here.

So where is HERE?

Well...
HERE is one step closer to getting the 501(c)3 status as a non-profit (Janzten faxed the paperwork today!).
HERE is having a board of directors who not only love our family but love the Lord and want to share His love with others. (Our first board meeting was last night and I cannot express the joy it was to have all of these amazing people in one room. Each one of them has a God given gift and we are so blessed to have them all on our team.)
HERE is already having multiple offers for volunteers, funds and prayers. (We're working on a volunteer database and a bank account and will accept members and donations REALLY soon! Thank you to everyone who has already pledged their time, talents and funds.)
HERE is being at peace. (Having taken our journey step by step even though some of them seemed really small steps, and other steps felt as if we were dragging our feet, God has brought us this far and will continue to carry us on!)
HERE is being prepared to take advantage of every opportunity to share God's love and help in any situation we possibly can through the Jon Jon Fund!
HERE is being ready to RUN! (literally! not only are we ready to take off running with Brynne's Smiles but in training for next year's Trooper McDonald Memorial Race. I'm GOING to RUN the 5k!)

I wish I could express in words how grateful we are to each one of you for supporting us along the way and we continually ask for your prayers as we follow God's plan for our lives and Brynne's Smiles.

Success! The 1st of many S.M.I.L.E.S.!

The first S.M.I.L.E. was a success! We can't wait to deliver over $450 worth of baby supplies to Garza County Victim's Assistance, Women's Protective Services and Lubbock Dream Center. We are so blessed by the overwhelming response to our first endeavor and can't wait to see what God can do with our little smile!

Thank you to all of you who donated. We pray you are blessed beyond measure as you are blessing others.

Our first S.M.I.L.E! (& you can help!)

We've been praying for our first opportunity to share a S.M.I.L.E. through the Jon Jon Fund and as I was looking at the ads in the Sunday paper, I found it! CVS has a great deal this week... if you spend $25 you get a FREE umbrella stroller ($17.99 value) and God just laid it on my heart that this could be our first S.M.I.L.E.! There is a limit of 1 per customer, so I thought if anyone wanted to join with us and go to CVS and get this deal then we would donate all the baby supplies and strollers to three different places - Garza County Victim's Assistance, Women's Protective Services in Lubbock and the Lubbock Dream Center. Below is the ad. I will be going every day to get my $25 worth. Email brynnessmiles@gmail.com to let us know if you want to particpate! We can come by and pick up your donations or email me for drop-off locations.

Today was an awesome event...the Trooper McDonald Memorial Race! We got the amazing opportunity to celebrate the life of our good friend Jonathan McDonald and show Laura and Kacyn how much we love them. We are humbled by the fact that Laura chose to donate the proceeds of the race to Brynne.

Part of the proceeds will also go to establish the Jon Jon fund, which will be the primary fund for Brynne's Smiles.

Jonathan McDonald was an amazing man and we want to carry on his loving and sharing spirit by sharing with others. Those we share with will not have to have a medical need. There are many people with all sorts of needs and we want to help.

We are so blessed by the outpouring of love and support. Brynne's Smiles is our way of paying forward all the blessings we have received.
